Dix Hills Jewish Center

There are several synagogues and places of congregation for people of Jewish faith in the Dix Hills-Melville neighborhood, notable among them are the Dix Hills Jewish Center and Temple Beth Torah, both of which have recently completed 50 years of service to the community.

Dix Hills Jewish Center, a conservative congregation in Dix Hills, was founded in 1968 by Judy and Allan Glaser along with more than seventy families who came together to build themselves a place for worship in their own neighborhood. In the early days of fundraising and planning, services were held in the dining room of a nearby preschool! In 2004, Suffolk Jewish Center a conservative synagogue founded in 1957 and located in Deer Park merged with Dix Hills Jewish Center.
